The SilverGenes Photofix site

Exploring the 2D world of photography from a 3D viewpoint and helping it come alive – that’s the idea behind SilverGenes Photofix. Most of us have boxes of old photos that were put aside for the day when we’d have time to go through them and put them in an album. In my case, that was about 20 years ago. When my daughter pointed out to me that she had no idea who was in some of the older photos, I realized now is the time to organize things and create something for the generations to follow. As I started sifting through things, there were other items that brought back some lovely memories so I decided to scan them and add them to a family keepsake book.

All the steps to creating this book, along with lots of other information about photography from capture to print will be discussed here. Please join me in not only tidying up a bit, but creating something to be proud of when we’re finished.

Along the way, you will also have all the information you need to start selling your photos online and making some serious coffee money if you so choose.

Most of all, we’re here to learn and have fun!

I have done many different things in my life but the constant from the age of two (that’s me with the camera on the left) is photography. Later, I morphed into a Photoshop teacher because there is something magical about image manipulation. I think it’s similar to that secret thrill many of us get every time we see the image appear in a darkroom tray. For me, it’s always a new adventure. They don’t all work out and sometimes I make a let’s not go there again note but it’s never dull. Working on this site and the galleries of black & white photos from the fifties and before, has connected me with the other photographers in my family, especially my father, and this has been a very moving and joyful experience.
